A Place of Hope and Healing: Growing with Susannah's House

Susannah's House

For more than a decade, Susannah’s House has been a place of hope for mothers and their children in our community. Founded by Rebekah Fetzer, Susannah’s House was created to support mothers recovering from substance abuse and life-altering challenges—offering them not only recovery resources, but safety, stability, and a path forward.

Since opening its doors in 2015, Susannah’s House has worked with mothers and children experiencing homelessness, addiction, and instability. Through housing, structured programming, and unwavering encouragement, the organization helps mothers rebuild their lives and become active, confident members of the community.

Supporting Mothers as They Rebuild Their Lives

Susannah’s House is more than a shelter—it’s a year-long residential program designed to support long-term transformation. Mothers live on-site with their children in a safe, supportive environment while participating in structured programming focused on recovery, life skills, and personal growth.

Participants attend classes several days a week, engage in recovery programs, and receive guidance that helps them prepare for employment, independence, and life beyond the program. By the time mothers graduate, many have jobs, stable routines, and a renewed sense of purpose—for themselves and for their children.

It’s challenging work, and the team at Susannah’s House is deeply proud of the commitment and resilience these mothers show every day.

A Longstanding Partnership with UT Federal Credit Union

Susannah’s House has been a member of UT Federal Credit Union since 2014, and that relationship has grown alongside the organization itself. From the beginning, UTFCU has served as a trusted financial partner—supporting Susannah’s House with checking, savings, and money market accounts and helping ensure their financial operations run smoothly and securely.

When Susannah’s House experienced a fraud issue, UTFCU stepped in quickly to help resolve the situation and restore stability, allowing the organization to continue focusing on its mission without disruption.

Rebekah shared just how meaningful that support has been over the years:

“UT Federal Credit Union has handled our money from the very beginning, and we’ve always felt very safe with them. Every interaction—whether it’s working through a challenge or just stopping by to make a deposit—has been kind, helpful, and supportive.”

More recently, that partnership has grown even deeper. During UTFCU’s Acts of Kindness Campaign, UTFCU volunteers spent time at Susannah’s House organizing donations for their store that supports mothers and children. It was during this visit that UTFCU team members met Rebekah and learned firsthand about the impact Susannah’s House is making—an experience that inspired an ongoing connection.

From there, conversations around financial education naturally followed. UTFCU is now working with Susannah’s House to provide financial education opportunities for mothers in the program, helping them learn how to open checking and savings accounts and build healthy financial habits for the future.

Through volunteer efforts, donations, and financial education, UTFCU is proud to support Susannah’s House not just as a member—but as a mission-driven partner.

What’s Next: A Childcare Center for the Future

Susannah’s House is now preparing for its next major step: building a new childcare center to support both the mothers in their program and families throughout the community. The organization hopes to break ground in January 2026, creating a safe, nurturing space where children can thrive while their mothers focus on recovery, education, and employment.

To complete the project, Susannah’s House is still working to raise $500,000. Once finished, the childcare center will remove barriers for families, expand access to quality childcare, and strengthen the foundation for long-term success across the community.

How the Community Can Help

Susannah’s House continues to rely on community support to carry out its mission. Those who want to help can:

Every act of generosity helps ensure that mothers and children have a safe place to heal, grow, and build a better future.

At UT Federal Credit Union, we’re grateful for the opportunity to support organizations like Susannah’s House—and honored to be part of the important work they’re doing for our community.
