August Event Recap: Growing Connections, Building Community
August was a month of growth—on farms, in classrooms, at job fairs, and across our branches. Whether supporting the next generation of students, celebrating agriculture, or spreading kindness with school supplies, UTFCU showed up to make a difference.
Here's a look back at the many ways we connected with our communities this month:
Agriculture & Local Business
We were proud to sponsor the 27th Annual Mid-South Agricultural Finance Conference at UT Martin. This gathering brought together farmers, lenders, and ag professionals to share valuable insights for strengthening agricultural operations across the region. Agriculture sustains us all, and we're honored to stand beside those who work tirelessly to feed and grow our communities.
Our Martin team also participated in the Northwest Tennessee Local Food Network's Small Farm Sustainability & Local Food Conference, highlighting the importance of local growers and producers in enriching our economy and communities. Later in the month, they attended the City of Martin Business Fair at Festival Park, connecting with residents and fellow businesses to celebrate the strength of small-town Tennessee.
Education & Student Engagement
August was filled with opportunities to support students at every stage of their journey:
- At UT Martin, we proudly announced our newest UT Federal Credit Union Fellowship scholarship recipient. This scholarship is a cornerstone of our commitment to investing in education and student success.
- At UT Health Science Center in Memphis, our team welcomed students during Dental Sciences Orientation and BSN Orientation, offering encouragement as they embark on careers that change lives every day.
- At UT Knoxville, we showed up for students in a big way—from the spirited Tennessee Saturday Night event, to meeting thousands of students at the Part-Time Job Fair and Student Engagement Fair on Pedestrian Walkway. Our team came prepared at each event with water, fans, and financial wellness resources, ultimately connecting with more than 1,000 students throughout the month.
Healthcare & Community Wellness
We were excited to support the UT Medical Center Lifestar Symposium, which saw incredible growth this year—jumping from 75 attendees last year to more than 240 in 2025! We greeted participants with UTFCU pens and notepads to capture the day's insights, and the enthusiasm in the room was undeniable.
We also sponsored Take Home the Cellar, benefiting Autism Breakthrough Knoxville, an evening of food and fellowship supporting adults on the autism spectrum. Pairing community and cause made this event a success for all involved.
Kindness & Culture
Even in the busiest months, our team makes time to celebrate and give back:
- Our HR team treated staff to a lemonade truck at corporate and lemonade kits for branches on National Lemonade Day—a refreshing way to beat the summer heat and share some smiles.
- The UTFCU Kindness Committee wrapped up August with a school supplies drive for Union County Schools. Thanks to the generosity of our branches, corporate office, and members, we collected a mountain of pencils, notebooks, and supplies to help students and teachers start their year strong.
For all of us at UTFCU, giving back isn't just what we do—it's part of who we are.
Looking Ahead
August reminded us that growth happens when we show up, invest in people, and give back to the communities we love, from farms and classrooms to symposiums and student fairs.
As we move into September, we're excited to keep building on this momentum—one partnership, one student, and one act of kindness at a time.
