UTFCU in the Community: A Look Back at April 2025
April was a month of connection, compassion, and community impact for UT Federal Credit Union. As spring bloomed across Tennessee, our teams were out in full force—supporting local causes, lifting up nonprofits, and celebrating the people and places that make our communities thrive. From festive fundraisers to educational outreach and everything in between, here’s a look back at the incredible moments we shared in April.
We kicked off the month with a night of celebration and giving at Pellissippi State Community College’s 50th Anniversary “Our Vision in Gold” Gala. UTFCU helped honor the college’s legacy and future, while supporting a record-breaking evening that raised over $500,000 for student support and campus improvements.
That same evening, UTFCU team members showed up in support of Power of the Purse, hosted by United Way of Blount County. With dozens of gently used purses donated by our generous staff and members, we proudly contributed to the organization's mission to uplift and empower women in our region.
April continued with meaningful outreach, including Reality Check: Finance Edition, a financial literacy class led by a team member from our Martin Branch. UTFCU helped the inspiring ladies of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. at UT Martin navigate real-world budgeting, savings goals, and the importance of credit. It was an eye-opening experience that reinforced our commitment to equipping young adults with essential money skills.
Later, the Frankin Square Branch team glammed up for The 5th Annual Bloom Bash, a ladies’ night out supporting Helping Mamas Knoxville. Just a few days later, they attended the inaugural fundraiser for Olive Tree Early Learning Academy, a nonprofit providing trauma-responsive early education in Knox County. With many families living in childcare deserts, the mission of Olive Tree couldn’t be more vital—and we were honored to support their work.
Meanwhile, UTFCU team members took a walk through history during Dusk in the Dogwoods at Mabry’s Hill. The event highlighted the lives of those buried in Bethel Cemetery and the importance of preserving their stories for future generations. And just across town, another UTFCU team showed their support at the 6th Annual KVRC Bourb on Showcase, benefiting the Sarah Moore Greene Elementary School library.
Mid-month, UTFCU turned green—literally—for Donate Life Tennessee and National Donate Life Month. Every location showed their support for organ and tissue donation, a cause that holds deep meaning for one of our own team members and their family.
We were also proud to have a strong presence at this year’s Farragut West Knox Chamber of Commerce Business Expo. With teams from across the credit union attending, it was a fantastic opportunity to connect with fellow businesses and community partners. Our booth, complete with a WOW-worthy balloon arch, stood as a colorful reminder of our passion for people.
April 24 brought even more opportunities to give back. UTFCU team members attended the 15th Annual Keys of Hope Luncheon at the Knoxville Convention Center, in support of the YWCA’s mission to empower women and eliminate racism. At the same time, another UTFCU team donned their finest hats for Hats in Bloom, the Knoxville Botanical Garden’s signature spring fundraiser.
As the month neared its close, UTFCU rocked out for a good cause at the 5th Annual Knox Rox Benefit Concert, supporting Hillcrest Healthcare Foundation and Knox PAWS. Our White Ave team soaked up the sunshine and live music from Lavonda & the 865 Band, all in the name of connecting senior citizens with companion animals.
Just a day later, the Springbrook Farm team indulged their sweet tooth at DessertFest 2025, a heartwarming event at Alcoa High School benefiting The Gate – Gateway to Independence. While guests sampled cakes, cookies, and cinnamon rolls, UTFCU cheered on the GateCrashers and helped support programs for adults with special needs.
To wrap up an already incredible month, UTFCU team members laced up their sneakers for the New Hope Heroes for Hope 5K & Kids’ Fun Run, benefiting New Hope Children’s Advocacy Center. Every step taken helped restore hope to children and families who’ve experienced trauma—proving once again that our community shows up when it matters most.
From financial education to fundraisers, races to remembrance events, April 2025 was packed with moments that reflect UTFCU’s core values: service, support, and showing up for our communities. We’re proud of every team member who took time to represent UTFCU across East Tennessee—and we can’t wait to see what May has in store.
